Combined Deflation of 2 Cities Consumer Price Index in Sumatera Selatan of 0.82 Percent

Abstract

  • The combination of 2 cities in Sumatera Selatan Province in August 2022 experienced deflation of 0.82 percent, Inflation for the 2022 Calendar Year (cumulative) until August 2022 was 4.29 percent. “Year on Year” Annual Inflation (August 2022 to August 2021) of 5.44 percent. The dominant commodities that caused deflation in August 2022 in Sumatera Selatan, namely: red chilies, shallots, broiler meat, cooking oil, and air transportation fares experienced a significant decrease in prices when compared to the average price in July 2022.
  • The city of Palembang in August 2022 experienced a deflation of 0.85 percent, Inflation for the 2022 Calendar Year (cumulative) from January to August 2022 was 4.28 percent. “Year on Year” Annual Inflation (August 2022 to August 2021) of 5.43 percent.
  • Lubuk Linggau City in August 2022 experienced a deflation of 0.50 percent, Inflation for the 2022 Calendar Year (cumulative) from January to August 2022 was 4.41 percent. “Year on Year” Annual Inflation (August 2022 to August 2021) of 5.65 percent.
  • Based on price monitoring during August 2022 in 90 CPI cities throughout Indonesia, it shows that 11 CPI cities experienced inflation, while 79 experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Ambon City at 0.82 percent, while the lowest inflation occurred in Bekasi City at 0.12 percent. The highest deflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan City at 1.65 percent, while the lowest deflation occurred in Depok City and Kediri City at 0.01 percent.
